Considering the times and season we are. The global pandemic is definitely birthing a shift in our lives. And this definitely for alot will mean getting new job. And if you are not prepared, you might never win at this because the market is pretty over crowded right now with job seekers every where. Here are my tips to give you the little edge you need. Let’s get into it.
Most interviewees are only prepared for only a few questions, so this tips alone can give you a leg up so you can speak comfortably, flexibly, and confidently when you go for an interview.
1. Know Your “Hook”
Most hiring managers interview a lot of people. So many that they typically need to return to their notes to recollect candidates, the exception being candidates with a robust hook. Sometimes these hooks are how people dress, speak or their personality, but the simplest hook may be a strong story that’s work-related. When you can wow an interviewer with a memorable story that shows what a robust candidate you are, you’ll rise to the highest of the list.
2. “Know” the Job You’re Applying For
Get to understand the work you’re applying for intimately. Don’t just read the work description, study it and record yourself answering questions as related to the job descriptions including your gestures. When you’re in an interview, always frame your responses in order that you reveal your significant knowledge about the job. This gives you a huge advantage.
3. Know What Makes You a Great Fit For the Job
Be able to communicate what makes you fit into the position perfectly and speak about it during the interview. What makes you stand out, special and different? It might be that you’re a thought machine, or a statistical fanatic. Whatever it is, realize it and prepare to suit it into your responses.
For example, when an interviewer asks, “What are your strengths?” skip the usual and speak about your qualities. It’ll be evident that you’re fit for the job.
4. Get Required Information about the Company
No matter how prepared you’re to speak about yourself, not knowing the essentials of the organization you’re interviewing for conveys a scarcity of preparation and interest. You can’t show an interviewer how you’ll fit in the organization until you understand the organization.
Before your interview, delve deeply into the organizations’ website to create a robust mental foundation, go browsing and skim recent news articles about the company. Also check out their Twitter and Facebook pages for any relevant update.
5. Prepare a List of Questions
Prepare an inventory of follow-on interview questions and description key points you’ll touch on if asked these questions. For example, if you say your biggest strength is producing result, you would like to be ready for the interviewer to ask something like, “To what extent can you go to get required result?” This preparation will help you prevent unnecessary stuttering, and it’ll improve your confidence before the interview.
6. Practice All The Way
You, and everybody else interviewing for the work already know many of the questions you will be asked. The difference lies in the level of preparation involved. Preparing unique and position-specific responses will offer you the competitive edge over everyone else. Don’t become a robot in this process be as natural as possible. Be sure to do your mock interview yourself until you’re able to speak comfortably and flexibly, it may feel awkward but it will pay off during your interview.
7. Be Honest
Good interviewers have a way of getting to the crux of who you are. They may have an innate sense for reading people, or they could just be specialized at asking the proper questions. Regardless, always approach the questions with honesty.
If you’re dishonest and the interviewer sees right through you, you most likely won’t get the job. Be “brilliantly” honest!
If you cannot relax during your interview, then nothing you are doing to organize will matter. Being yourself is important to the choice process, and interviewers will feel it if you’re too nervous. Numerous studies show that smiling not only increases your happiness and confidence, but it also puts the people you’re interacting with comfortable. Pulling this off requires emotional intelligence (EQ), a skill that employers are increasingly trying to find in candidates. And it’s no surprise, as 90% of top performers on the work are high in EQ.
