HOW TO OVERCOME FAILURE

Hello Greatness Partner, welcome to DanielAjumobi.com – the place where people in pursuit of success come to get actionable insights. No need to sugar coat it, you will fail. Not once, not twice, many times. So, this is simply few tips to help you get up and keep running. This is to let you stay woke.

I am very sure it is not new to anyone as we have all heard at one point or the other that failure is  inevitable on the road to success.

It is very normal to make a mistake, have setbacks or simply fail completely, and it’s not supposed to be fun or bring about some kind of happiness, but you can’t avoid to live with the fears and sadness associated with it. So, what you really need is a smart way to handle such situations because some people allow failure to weigh them down and they give up on their aspirations, dreams and life pursuit.

Below are tips and failure hacks to help you scale over and move forward.

1. ACCEPT THE REALITY OF THE MOMENT.

Yes, failure wouldn’t call for some sort of celebration but failure still isn’t a reason to feel bad. Accept it – Yes, I failed and I’m unapologetic about it. I tried my best but I guess I missed something somewhere which I must rectify next time. Failure is a vital fiber for success. When you’ve just failed it will most likely hurt but don’t be in denial about the reality that it’s a phase that must come and go. Your acceptance without guilt is your starting point. If you must cry it all out, then do it but don’t distract yourself with something else or cover it up with a smile because it will make starting over unnecessarily hard. Accepting it will make you think clearly, find the errors and re-strategize without any hard feelings.

2. ACT CONSTRUCTIVELY

This step is only possible after accepting the situation. It will make it possible for you to see things clearly constructively and logically in order to know where the mistakes were made and where they should be corrected.

Find the answer to questions like;

  • What did I learn from all I did so far?
  • How can I adjust to avoid making the same mistake?
  • What’s one thing I should do differently the next time?

You do not have to rush and while some of the answers may be immediate others might take a while. These questions will help you get the drive to start again after that you can see the past mistake and have devised means to counter all of it.

3. LET IT OUT

One of the ways to let go of any “not-so-good” situations is to let it out. Talk about it with someone else, vent it out to someone whom you can trust and is willing to listen to you. It’ll help you to accept what happened and ease that inner pressure.

Having a conversation about the situation will make you see it from another perspective and will eventually help you check back into reality, comfort, encourage and to also find a way forward.

4. TAKE ACTION ON THE NEXT PLAN

The newly devised plan you come up with is only the start. There’s still a lot of corrections and amendments that will be made on the field so be very open and flexible and ready to go with the flow so don’t try so hard to make it perfect at the go.

Trying so hard to make it perfect sometimes will make it harder to go with the flow on the field because you might feel you have done quite a lot to devise your perfect plan which you may feel should not be adjusted. Split your plan into small steps and then take actions one step at a time, it makes it easier to adjust.
